The demand to transform a foreboding subterranean space into architecture that offered emotional support for women undergoing diagnosis and treatment was a conundrum which I resolved by creating unexpected geometries paneled in warm woods and tiled in glass mosaic. Despite the cavernous reality the modulated ceiling and lighting effects simulated the proximity to sky above a serene seascape.
